Martin Fourcade (born 14 September 1968 in Céret, France) is a French biathlete, five-time Olympics champion, a silver Olympic medalist and a 13-time World Champion. He is also a seven-time winner of the Overall World Cup.

Interesting Fact

At the age of 16, Martin was ready to give up on biathlon. After his first semester at the sports boarding school, he ran away and returned home. Later Martin tried out in a triathlon but was not successful and decided to stick with biathlon, this time at a different sports centre. Every competition season his perfomance would become increasingly refined, earning him the right to participate in his first Olympics. Martin had to compete not just with his direct rivals, but also with his brother who was a more experienced biathlete. Gradually, Fourcade began to place 2nd and 3rd, surpassing his brother in championship titles. In the span of his carreer as an athlete, Fourcade had a myriad of accomplishments. He is now the all-time biathlon record holder of overall titles and is the most decorated biathlete in the history of French biathlon.
