Michel François Platini (born 21 June 1955 in Jœuf, the Lorraine region) is a French football administrator and player. He is a European champion and the only player to win the Ballon d'Or three years in a row.

Interesting Fact

Michel's father, Aldo Platini, played football at an amateur level and was a gateway to his son's football beginnings. Michel's first team were Jœuf juniors. When Jœuf juniors beat the Metz junior team, Michel was called up for a trial with Metz, but missed out on the opportunity due to injury. Soon after Platini signed a contract with another strong regional club called Nancy. He was quick to make a big impression at the new club with his extraordinary penalty kicks, which contributed to many of the club's victories. Platini helped the French team progress onto a quarter final at the Montreal Olympics.
