Edson Arantes do Nascimento (born 21 October 1940 in Três Corações, Minas Gerais) was a Brazilian professional footballer who played as a forward. He was the only football player to win three FIFA World Cups.

The secret of Pelé's excellence is in his phenomenal fitness and tremendous diligence. It is known that at the peak of his career he could run the 100 m in under 11 seconds, which is only slower than the time of professional track and field athletes by a margin. Pelé had a very wide field of view, which allowed him to assess the constantly changing situation and quickly determine the optimum decision. He spent a large amount of time studying and practicing individual football tecnhiques, which later granted him the ability to shoot equally well with both feet. His technique had no flaws. His unique playing style drastically changed the world's understanding of football's potential, as well as the essense of football itself. Many "miracles" performed by Pelé on the football pitch became legendary.
