Larisa Semyonovna Latynina (born 27 December 1934 in Kherson, Odesa Oblast) is a Soviet artistic gymnast. She is a nine-time Olympic and World champion and a seven-time European champion.

Interesting Fact

She holds the undisputed record for the most Olympic medals won by an artistic gymnast, male or female. At the 14th World Championship, Latynina, being five months pregnant, won 5 gold medals (team all-around, individual all-around, vault, uneven bars and a balance beam) and 1 silver medal (floor exercise).
